Radiant Watercolour with Marion Chapman

Term Two 2018

From 9.30am to 12.30pm - A three hour class.

This is a six week term, Members $180.00

Explore – loose washes layered over graduated washes to allow the light to bounce off complex
beautiful layers of colour.

Emphasis – is placed on enjoying the process of creating watercolour paintings where colours are
used to create bold designs.

Achieve – a good understanding of how watercolour behaves when wet and dry.
When you learn to control the water, you can control watercolour effects.

Learn about – colour theory and the importance of grey, how watercolour is made,
different types of watercolour paper, watercolour media, the importance of composition,
and tips and tricks.

Each week – we will focus on a different painting, a different subject and a different colour palette.

Marion Chapman is a UNSW Art & Design graduate and Sydney-based artist who specialises in
watercolour and print-making.

In 2016, Marion won the Watercolour Prize at St George Art Society and was a finalist in the Fleurieu
Food & Wine Prize, Adelaide.
Other prizes include Winner Printmaking Oyster Bay Art Festival, Best in Show Goulburn Show, 2-time winner
Abstract Section Combined Art Societies of Sydney, Winner Works on Paper CASS, and the Irodori
Watercolour Prize.

Marion has been awarded two artist residencies painting in watercolour. In 2014 Marion was Artist in Residence
at South Hill Yellow House, Goulburn and in 2016, Artestudio Ginestrelle, Assisi, Italy. This residency was followed by
successfully exhibiting at the International Contemporary Art Exhibition, Art Gallery Le Logge, Assisi, Italy and
an offer to exhibit in Florence in late 2017.
